Voices in St. Augustine Voices in St. Augustine is a story about a 13-year-old boy who discovers a mysterious connection to the past, while searching for an 8th grade history project. On a visit to St. Augustine, Florida, the “Nation’s Oldest City”, Joey Johnson becomes intrigued with an abandoned house and some voices he hears coming from its garden. His curiosity to find the sources of these voices leads him to discover some new things about himself, as well as the people who lived there many years ago.

The story portrays a slice of American life, as Joey faces the many challenges of growing up. Through its humor and intrigue, the story captures the imagination of young readers, making it a fun way to learn some historical background about one of America’s earliest settlements.
