Writer of NFL juvenilebooks visits studentsJanuary 02 2011Well-known juvenile fiction author Jane R. Wood recently visited Clay Hill Elementary, sharing with fourth-grade students how her past experiences as a teacher, newspaper writer and television producer led her to become a writer. Wood is the author of four books geared toward young readers. Her first book, “Voices in St. Augustine,” introduces her characters, who guide readers through all four books. In her second book, “Adventures on Amelia Island,” the characters begin a quest for buried treasure. Her third book, “Trouble on the St. Johns River,” sends her characters on an environmental adventure. The students related to many of the places she wrote about in her books, but because this one takes place primarily in Jacksonville, it was a particular favorite. Her newest book, “Ghosts on the Coast,” leads her characters on a ghostly trail through Savannah and the Low Country. All of her books are loaded with history and factual details.
